Prior to that role, Hughes held various positions, including Chief Information Security Officer, Compliance Controller for Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), Assistant Controller, and Internal Audit Manager for nearly two decades. Earlier in her career, Hughs was a Manager of Internal Audit at First Data Corporation. Hughes earned an MBA in Project Management from DeVry University’s Keller Graduate School of Management and a BS in Business Administration from Wayne State College.
Niko Johnson, VP of Finance, Pioneer

Niko is an alum of University of Maryland at College Park, graduating with a B.S. in Finance. He obtained his CPA shortly after graduating. Early in his career, Niko worked in a rotational finance program at DuPont. He then moved to New York, joining Grant Thornton in a forensic accounting capacity, where he conducted financial investigations. Niko also held various corporate accounting and FP&A roles before joining Pioneer in 2020.

Jeremy Kerley is the Senior Director of Business Continuity and Information Security at Harvard Shared Services. He’s been with Harvard for 6 years. He brings technical knowledge from his roles in IT infrastructure and systems administration to Information Security and Business Continuity. Prior to Harvard, he was the CISO for a financial services technology company serving some of the largest banks in the US. This required extensive knowledge of regulatory frameworks and standards such as HIPAA, PCI-DSS, SOX, and GLBA. In his spare time he enjoys traveling (especially to the mountains) and spending time with his family.

Ben Van Vlerah, Senior Vice President Commercial Region Manager, Huntington National Bank
Ben Van Vlerah is the Commercial Region Manager leading Middle Market Banking in Illinois and Wisconsin for Huntington Bank. Van Vlerah has dedicated his 25 year career advising executive leadership teams of commercial, family offices and not-for-profit businesses in Illinois and Wisconsin. Van Vlerah started his banking career as a credit analyst and relationship manager on the Middle Market Banking team at American National Bank (Bank One acquired ANB). In 2003 Van Vlerah joined Banco Popular North America to start up their Commercial Banking team. In 2010, Van Vlerah joined FirstMerit Bank which was acquired by Huntington Bank in 2016. At FirstMerit, Van Vlerah was once again tapped to start a Commercial Banking team. Over the next 15 years he developed a team of bankers and is currently Commercial Regional Manager. Van Vlerah earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Knox College. He actively supports and participates in numerous civic organizations including Facing Forward to End Homelessness, Rosecrance and Junior Achievement. He is an active member and board member of the Chicagoland Chapter of YPO.
